The Chris Wilson Band

Chris Wilson was born and raised in Lompoc, Calfornia where he spent most of his time playing music as a young adult. He first picked up the guitar at the age of 13 and he played his first show at age 14 at a local coffee shop in Lompoc thus stumbling upon his new passion. Now newly living in Santa Barbara California to pursue music, Chris is gigging regular at downtown cafes, clubs and other venues. He is currently in the studio working on his first full length folk/rock/soul album at Certain Sparks recording studio in Lompoc, California. Find more about The Chris Wilson Band on MySpace. See a local performance video.

Chris is the brother of Wesley Wilson, one of our fitness models at On Display Men.

Jaicko Pop

He has a style of positive pop that will definitely carry into 2010.
"I just stopped searching," Jaicko says, describing his quest to determine his musical style. "When you search you are looking for the door to be unlocked. But I realized the door was already unlocked."

The Barbados-bred singer, who turned 18 on August 6, speaks with the wisdom of someone three times his age. Jaicko has been making music for half of his life. In the past 9 years, he has tried rap, and different styles of pop. He eventually settled on something that felt a bit more natural.

Jaicko says listeners will get an idea of his personality when hearing the album also titled "Can I." "This album is through the eyes of Jaicko," he says. "I sing about girls, my life experiences, and an array of different emotions and feelings."

Josh Gracin

We decided to go country for our music pick this month. His song We Weren't Crazy might remind you of a 'crazy' fun summer when you were young.
Josh Gracin
Born and raised in Westland, Mich., about 30 minutes west of Detroit, Josh Gracin grew up listening to his parents' favorites -- Elvis, the Beatles and the vintage rock and pop on a favorite local station. Then, when he was 11, the station's format changed to country, and he started getting into artists such as Garth Brooks, Joe Diffie, George Strait and Randy Travis. His first public appearance was at an eighth grade talent competition where he sang Brooks' 1993 hit "Standing Outside the Fire" and managed to win over an audience full of dance music-loving peers.

Gracin's self-titled debut album, featuring the first single "I Want to Live," was released in 2004. Its second single, "Nothin' to Lose," reached No. 1 at country radio. Read the entire CMT article.

Dave Allen

Dave Allen can rhyme, sing and start record labels, but he could never win an ugly contest.
Fresh off the March 27 launch of his independently released album, "Broadway Nights," Allen is looking to bring his blend of pop and hip-hop to the masses. Being a model might help. "I think in terms of marketing, it is what it is. I could be on the front cover of a magazine and have a top album out at the same time," he said. Allen says he's hoping the album rouses the interest of major record labels.
"In the next year or two, I hope to be signed with a bigger label, on tour, acting and doing basically anything in the entertainment business," he said. Allen says he's been inspired by artists of every genre, from The Temptations to Green Day. He's also been influenced by Eminem, which is evident on some of the new songs.
"The CD is definitely hip-hop, but I'm not claiming to be gangster," he said. "Broadway Nights," his second album, is a reference to the street Allen grew up on in Laurel Springs and a summer he spent living in New York.

Kaden

We found another great model musician. He is a young man living Hollywood with an amazing sound and look. Kaden currently has 13 songs professionally recorded and six more in the works. He continues going into the studio regularly and writing constantly. When asked about work Kaden quickly states, "Making music has never felt like work, I feel most alive and thrilled when creating and collaborating with other artists. So the fact that I am able to do what I love, in the company of so many talented people means I am very happy right now."

In regards to the other aspects of his career Kaden explains, "My life has become much more structured, I go to the gym, take singing lessons, write, dance, and even have taken a few acting classes. I have never been more focused and productive."

When Stephen Heller graduated he got fast to work on his true ambition; a career in music. His first indie release of music that celebrates life was in 2007.

Aston Teague

Looking back you'd think that 27-year-old singer/songwriter Aston Teague had a better chance of becoming an NFL quarterback than a budding musician. By the end of his sophomore year of college he was well on his way to success on the football field. But thanks to some unforeseen changes in Aston's life, he left the cleats behind to follow "A New Road" of passion driven music and dynamic live performances.
Aston's first guitar was a high school graduation gift from his Father. The guitar sat in a dusty dorm room and was rarely played throughout his first few years of college. All of his attention was focused on playing Quarterback at The University of Houston, he was better known as "Bubba" at that time. After suffering a severe ankle injury Aston almost immediately turned to the guitar for a sense of comfort and peace during those tough times.
"I feel like I'm exactly where I want to be musically, professionally, and spiritually, and I know I'm blessed to have this opportunity to make music in the city I love."

Red Wanting Blue

The latest installment into the fringe music world is a band I just recently saw. The band is Red Wanting Blue. They are a very new age rock band with a classic sound. There songs are energetic, uplifting and deep. Seeing them was even more of a trip, I am still recovering from losing my voice. The front man was very animated as well which made the experience that much more exciting. If you wanna rock, then check em out!!!

Jonny Lang

Hope you all liked Marc Broussard...and if you did then you will also enjoy the gospel inspired voice of Jonny Lang. His voice is absolutely amazing, and his music is purely inspired by his worship of God. His guitar playing is just as great and reminds me of the late Stevie Ray Vaughn when I hear his riffs. His newest album will inspire you to not waste a minute of life as well as appreciate everything that you have, and continue to try and better yourself. Check him out and let us know what you think.

Marc Broussard

For those of you who might not be familiar with the term FRINGE it is the antonym of mainstream. I feel that todays artist whom might be talented are going away from their roots and their influences and trying to create music that is very popish, due to producers force feeding them into it, and to me the music comes off very lame. I am a music lover that is obsessed with finding artists whom stick with what they know best... and that my friends is MUSIC. Music that you can feel...Feel their pain, their love, heart ache, and joyfulness. For instance the artist Marc Broussard, a young man from Louisiana who grew up listening to the blues and soul music, and a son of a hall of fame guitar player. Blessed with musical genes He has developed what I believe as the best vocals in the industry and has not hit it what we call "Big".... yet he is very popular in the industry due to his incredible voice range and pure soul. Dont get me wrong he is popular with fans as well, but you will not hear him in the mainstream of music. I am not blaming these new age artist for changing to sell more records I am merely hoping that artists with this much talent are able to get their music herd at a mainstream level so that we as listeners can hear these great artist and listen to actual music. Check Marc Broussard and let us know what you think.
